Can you get a price without a call?

Nobody in my industry will give you a price without a call. I'll give you the honest version in 90 seconds.

What moves the price?

Bookkeeping cost comes down to how much work is actually in your books, and five things usually move that number. First is transaction volume. The more activity there is, the more there is to review. Second is the number of bank, credit card, and other accounts involved. Third is how many months your books are behind, because current monthly work and catch-up work are not the same job. Fourth is payroll. Fifth is sales tax. Each one adds another layer that your accounting team has to handle accurately.

Is the cheapest quote the least expensive?

That is also why the cheapest quote is not always the least expensive option. If cleanup is excluded, the quote may look lower now, but the missing work has not disappeared. It may simply become another invoice later.

What do you need to send?

To prepare a useful quote, I do not need a long meeting or a polished explanation of everything that happened. Last month's bank statements and access to your QuickBooks can show the amount of work involved. Send me a month of statements and I'll price it. No meeting required.
