How We Got Here

I'll be honest: I'm one of those rare people who genuinely loves bookkeeping. Always have.

I grew up around real estate as a third-generation real estate investor, and got my first taste of bookkeeping in high school, keeping a paper ledger for my dad's property management company. In college, I kept getting cast as the producer on film projects — not for my opinions on craft services, but because I could balance a production budget and run crew payroll faster than anyone else on set.

Somehow, the numbers always found me.

Over the next 20 years, I built my bookkeeping career across a surprisingly wide range of industries — entertainment, travel, marketing, medical, retail, and professional services, to name a few. Real estate and construction have been a constant throughout it all. I've worked with developers, general contractors, property managers, and real estate investors, managing everything from day-to-day bookkeeping to complicated job costing, construction draws, and keeping the moving pieces of real estate and construction projects organized.

Some of those clients have now been with me for more than a decade.

And wherever I worked, the same thing kept happening: friends, relatives, colleagues, clients, and eventually friends of friends started asking me to sort out their books, too.

By 2019, what had started as side work had very clearly become a business. I officially founded TaDa! Accounting, and since then we've grown almost entirely through referrals — from happy clients and from CPAs who trust the quality of our work.

The name came from my kids, who had a habit of completing something difficult, throwing their arms into the air, and shouting, "Ta-Da!"

As it turns out, children and business owners celebrate many of the same milestones: finishing something complicated, finding something they thought was lost, and discovering that the numbers actually came out right.

Today, that's still what we do. We sort, reconcile, organize, untangle, and occasionally perform a little financial detective work.

We do the work behind the scenes. Our clients get the satisfying reveal.
